A new internal poll shows Democratic Congressional candidate Frank Kratovil leading his opponent by 2 points.

The poll, paid for by the Kratovil campaign and conducted by GarinHartYang Research Group, shows state's Attorney Kratovil (D-Stevensville) with a 43 percent to 41 percent lead over state Sen. Andy Harris (R-Cockeysville). Sixteen percent of those surveyed were undecided.

"Frank's campaign has come a long way, and what this poll shows is that all of the momentum is on his side as we come down the home stretch," Kevin Lawlor, Kratovil's press secretary said in a statement.

Harris's campaign manager, Chris Meekins, says without full disclosure of the questions the poll means nothing.

"This is another partisan poll," Meekins told PolitickerMD.com. "The Kratovil campaign is running on desperation."

Last month the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee paid for a poll showing Kratovil and Harris in a dead heat. Over the summer, a poll paid for by the Harris campaign showed Kratovil behind by 16 points. PolitickerMD.com has not confirmed the release of any recent independent polling of the 1st Congressional District race, which includes 12 of the 23 counties in the state.

The Kratovil-Harris race is ranked the 52nd most competitive U.S. House race in the nation on Politicker.com's Pindell Report. Politicker.com's Managing Editor James Pindell lists the race as "Leans Republican."

The poll, conducted on Oct. 7 and 8, surveyed 401 likely voters with a margin of error plus or minus 5 percent.
