Matthews puts 'a little thought' into running for office again

Despite being defeated by a 46 point spread in his bid for the 2nd Congressional District seat, Republican Richard Matthews said he was satisfied with the results and his campaign's efforts.

Matthews ran a gentle and issue-focused campaign against incumbent U.S. Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-Baltimore).

"It was a hard environment," Matthews told PolitickerMD.com, adding it was his first bid for any elected office. "It was definitely a bad day for Republicans last night."

Matthews said he's put "a little thought" into running for another elected office, but didn't say specifically what he had in mind.

Ruppersberger could not be reached for comment.
