Sun Shines on Cohen, But Partly Cloudy As Well

CP has always poo-poohed  endorsements, but The Baltimore Sun, which has pretty much ignored Annapolis and has not a clue about our local issues wrote its endorsements today...for what that's worth. Their editors more or less come out for Cohen, but they look at each candidate, provide pros and cons and some actual helpful advice about how to make your choice, so yes, it is worth a look.

Was The ACLU Lawsuit A Surprise to HACA? How could it have been?

Many months ago, The Capital and Baltimore Sun reported about a potential lawsuit to be brought by the American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland (ACLU) against The Housing Authority of Annapolis (HACA) and our police department because of their policy banning certain individuals from visiting HACA properties. At that time I spoke with HACA Executive Director Eric Brown who indicated that he was unaware of any impending lawsuit and that he had not heard from the ACLU in that regard. In a column in The Capital as recently as August 18, Eric Hartley wrote that, "Deborah Jeon, an ACLU lawyer, said the city and housing authority have refused to discuss the issue, leaving the plaintiffs no choice but to sue.

The Weird and Wacky World of Weikel and Purcell....S'il Vous Plait

I think it is time to amend the Wacky World of Weikel by now calling it The Weird and Wacky World of Weikel and Purcell. Most of their emails go back and forth between the two and are generated by one or the other. I have also decided that it is only fair to include the email addresses of those who receive their rants because they are part of the public record too. Perhaps if they are unhappy receiving these emails they can request that Mr. Weikel and Mr. Purcell stop sending them. They go to the mayor, the mayor's boyfriend Dale, The Baltimore Sun, WNAV, Waed One President Doug Smith, and the mayor's press secretary Rhonda Wardlaw.
