Larry Hogan testing the gubernatorial waters

Add Lawrence J. Hogan Jr. to the list of those who feel they can't wait for Bob Ehrlich to decide if he's running for governor again. Hogan, a Republican whose most recent public position was as appointments secretary in the...

Laura Vozzella’s Ehrlich Obsession

From Red Maryland
So, it’s been nearly three years since Bob Ehrlich stopped being governor of Maryland but the Baltimore Sun’s Laura Vozzella can’t quite get over it.
The Cordish Cos. has picked a surprising ally in its bid to put slots at Arundel Mills mall: Team Ehrlich.
Bob Ehrlich pushed hard for [...]

Another Tuition Freeze

So Obama is gracing our country with a big fat stimulus package, also known as the Porkulus. The intent of this stimulus package is to jump-start the economy and get people back to work. As you can probably deduce, most of the people losing their jobs are being laid off from the private sector (for those of you in government, this means companies whose intent is to make money).

What better way to stimulate the economy than to dump hundreds of billions of dollars into Federal and State pork projects? Even better - let's give a bunch of the money to the states so that they can determine how best to spend the money (within some guidelines, of course).

Stupid, Green, and Growing...Your Cost of Living

The Greenhouse Gas Reduction Act passed the Senate last week by a 36-9 vote. To refresh: the bill—introduced by the O’Malley administration—aims to reduce GHG emissions 25% below 2006 levels by 2020. The administration and its environmental allies claim the reductions will stem the tide of global warming, all while providing net economic growth and more jobs. This is part of O’Malley’s “Smart, Green and Growing” initiative. Four Republicans inexplicably voted for this monstrosity (David Brinkley, Barry Glassman, Andy Harris, and EJ Pipkin). The house version of the bill, now awaits a vote in the Economic Matters Committee, where it died last year.

There They Go Again

What is it with the Laslo Boyds and Barry Rascovars of the Maryland political scene? Why is it that they continually engage in straw man arguments then gleefully exalt around the pyre like the pagan women from The Wicker Man? Seriously, is it too much to ask for these two supposed political experts to actually understand the definitions of the terms they are using?

Last week it was Boyd, this week it is Rascovar in a Gazette column about Bob Ehrlich. I’m not going to argue the obvious fact of the mountain sized hurdle Maryland Republicans face in this state. It was there during Ehrlich’s term and will be there for some time to come.

Did the Washington Post get "justdafacts" in its Steele piece

Regular readers of Red Maryland and O’Malley Watch should be familiar with one of our favorite antagonists “justdafacts”. Justdafacts is the nom de cyber of one Steve Lebowitz, who unabashedly states, “I make no bones about who I am and where I’m coming from. I support and defend Gov. O’Malley, and I’ve volunteered on every one of his campaigns since 1990."

Interestingly, jusdtafacts has been peddling much of the same Fabian accusations from the Washington Post against not only Michael Steele, but Bob Ehrlich as well since last summer.

On May 30th 2008 Justdafacts wrote, “Keep watch for reports of humongous, gargantuan, contributions from an embarrassing contributor in a newspaper near you soon.
