Turnout low in District 4

"It's been dribbles," Gloria Moore, chief election judge at the Evangel Cathedral location in Upper Marlboro, said.

According to Moore, as of 11:00 a.m., 104 people had cast a ballot in a contest expected to be won by activist Donna Edwards (D-Fort Washington).

Edwards, James prepare for voters’ choice

Residents of Maryland's 4th Congressional District will go to the polls tomorrow to elect a new member of Congress to replace former Rep. Al Wynn (D-Mitchellville), who resigned May 31. Activist Donna Edwards (D-Fort Washington) and high-tech developer Peter James (R-Germantown) are the nominees of their respective party's. Edwards is considered the favorite in the heavily Democratic 4th district, which encompasses portions of Montgomery and Prince George's Counties.

Danny Glover to campaign for Edwards

Donna Edwards’ campaign for the Democratic congressional nomination gets a celebrity boost tonight with the attendance of actor/activist Danny Glover at a rally in New Carrollton

“He has been a very involved activist for many years now,” Dan Weber, Edwards’ communications director, told PolitickerMD.com, in regards to Glover.

Weber also said Glover’s presence demonstrated that “the campaign is getting attention.”

Wynn, Edwards battle over Iraq

The race between Rep. Albert Wynn and community activist Donna Edwards is heating up as the two prepare for a rematch of their 2006 Democratic primary contest - a contest Wynn won by a 49.7%-46.4% margin, one of the narrowest of any incumbent in the nation.

"The campaign is going great and we have momentum," said Edwards' communications director Dan Weber. "Donna offers change for the people of the fourth district."
