Kenneth Kirby--The Difficulty of Separating Myth From Fact

Ward Sixer Kenny Kirby grew up in Obery Court, attended local schools and  may very well be just the kind of man needed to serve as alderman from Ward Six. The ward is the edge of "lower" Eastport and includes some public housing communities along Forest Drive. A tall man reputed to have played pro basketball in Europe, he bases his campaign mainly on issues concerning lower income and public

Chuck Weikel Flies Into A Rage: Stiverson Claims Weikel Called Him a "F------ Liar" At Public Event

Last Thursday night, Ward Six Candidates Greg Stiverson and Kenny Kirby appeared at a meeting of  public housing residents in Eastport, but it was Kirby's Rasputin-like handler, Chuck Weikel, who stole the show. Stiverson approached Weikel and Kirby to shake their hands at the end of the meeting when an enraged Weikel, yelled at Stiverson and called him a "f------ liar" in front of eyewitnesses.

The Democrat Demolition Derby Races On....

The following was sent to CP totally unsolicited by Eastport resident and former DNR employee Raj Williams. The views do not necessarily represent those of CP or its publisher...also known as CP:

I am concerned about the integrity and future of the Democratic Party. The hypocrisy of the Party was evident at yesterday’s Unity Rally at Loew’s Hotel. The Governor talked about how the Democratic

Thanks To Alderman Arnett and Public Works Director Agee For Attention To Road Repairs

Alderman Arnett reminded me today that I had failed to report on the response to my request over the summer to make repairs to a seriously degraded road section. That was Sixth Street at the gateway to Eastport between the bridge and the Eastport Elementary School and Rockfish Restaurant. I was remiss in not mentioning that he took the issue up immediately with Acting DPW Director Bob Agee who

Cohen Has Meeting....Yawn

The Cohen campaign just sent out a news release:

Cohen Meets With Ulman to Discuss Making Government More Efficient and Effective
The two leaders pledge to continue working together.

Columbia, MD -- Anne Arundel County Councilman Josh Cohen, Candidate for Mayor of Annapolis, met for two hours yesterday afternoon with Howard County Executive Ken Ulman and several senior staff members. Cohen had requested the meeting to learn about Ulman's initiatives to improve government performance and reduce costs. The two also discussed transportation challenges in the Annapolis area. Ulman is a member of the Baltimore Regional Transportation Board and pledged to examine ways to improve regional transportation coordination for the greater Annapolis area.

OhNineOnLine for August 26--Signs Of The Times and Cohen's "Silly Season"

TOMORROW NIGHT....The West Annapolis Civic Association, Wardour Improvement Association, Admiral Heights Improvement Association mayoral candidates forum, 7:00-9:00 pm Thursday, August 27th, West Annapolis Elementary School gymnasium.....Wayne Taylor is on the move. Some of his signs have been showing up around town and I spied the busy candidate putting up a large banner along Hilltop Lane and at other places on Tuesday. Personally, I'd like to see the candidate write more on his web-site or on literature, buts signs are good too. None yet for Renaut, Shropshire or Sears-Deppa, who along with Taylor, are last in fund-raising, and with the exception of Shropshire, have rather slim web-sites.

Shropshire...No Stranger to The Court System Has His Day Next Week

Sam Shropshire will have his day in District Court on August 25 at 1:15 pm, 151 Rowe Boulevard, room 003 (please confirm when at court). This is the case number: 4A00207001. Speaking of courts, Shropshire is also a defendant in claims brought by a bank in which a judgment was awarded in favor of the bank for over $4,000 in at least one suit and there have been other suits, including the other well-publicized domestic complaint.

Lawyer for the plaintiff in some of the other cases has been the profoundly conservative and politically active Anthony Peroutka, former presidential candidate for the Constitution Party.

CP TO MAKE MAJOR CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCEMENT SOON....

Will it be an endorsement?

Will CP decide to run for office?

Has CP dug up some incriminating or damning evidence on one of the candidates?

Was CP offered a bribe? (I can only wish...)

Or what??

Could it just be one big publicity stunt.....(yeah, probably....)

Stay tuned to CP ....the HEAT is on.

CP Thanks Loyal Readers Who Thanked CP

CP would like to thank Harvey and Jean Singer and Rob and Jeanne Slawson for their generous contributions in support of their favorite local blog. Along with his contribution, Harvey wrote:

"...good reading! my view is that the writing in Paul's blog has to be approached intelligently, and read critically -- that is, with a healthy dose of internal dialog about what's likely true and what it implies -- but there's no doubt that you emerge from that exercise knowing more and understanding more than what you knew and understood beforehand."

The Singers are recent arrivals in Eastport and Harvey has become involved in local politics and issues.
