Battle over absentee ballots: Harris camp claims Kratovil trying to 'disenfranchise' voters

With the race in the 1st Congressional District still too close to call, Andy Harris's campaign is accusing its opponent of trying to disenfranchise voters by challenging absentee ballots in Harford County. Harris greets voters, receives mixed reactions

ABINGTON -- Republican Andy Harris received mixed reviews while greeting voters at Abingdon Elementary School in Harford County on Tuesday.

Harris, who said most of his volunteers were phone baking, stood alone in front of the Elementary School wearing an American flag tie and a smile. Harris greeted nearly everyone who passed, asking them to send him to Congress.

"Thanks for coming out to vote!" Harris said to a woman. "I'm Andy Harris. I'm gonna ask for your vote. Send me to Congress," he told another.

GOP eager, but cautious with Harris seat

Update: Harford County Chair Mike Geppi  says the meeting was moved to put more focus on getting Harris elected.

Should state. Sen. Andy Harris (R-Cockeysville) defeat state's Attorney Frank Kratovil (D-Stevensville) to win the 1st Congressional District seat in November, the Harford and Baltimore County Republican Central Committees will be required to elect a successor.
