A Big New Year For Alderman Ian Pfeiffer...and Family

Not only did he get elected to public office, he and his wife just had a baby! It's a girl! Amelia Rose Pfeiffer was born 11/24/09. News about newborns is always the same....time and date of borth , height (they call it length) and weight...who cares???...and of course mother and baby are doing fine etc., etc....presumably Amelia is a Democrat or will be...no word yet on her test scores, class

A True Thanksgiving Story...With A Twist of International Intrigue

The president held a fancy state dinner at The White House last night and it reminded me, coincidentally of a Thanksgiving banquet back in the 1970's. I was growing up near Washington and my friend Bruce was the son of the Australian charge d'affaires, or number two man in the embassy. When I was about 13 or 14, Bruce invited me to be his guest at the Ambassador's official Thanksgiving dinner.
