Lawlor and McCann to stay on Kratovil team

Incoming U.S. Rep. Frank Kratovil (D-Stevensville) has brought on his former campaign manager Tim McCann as chief of staff. His campaign's press secretary, Kevin Lawlor, will remain on board as well.

As chief of staff, McCann will make sure operations run smoothly, Lawlor said. He'll also be in charge of constituent services and will oversee the Washington D.C. and 1st Congressional District offices.

Battle over absentee ballots: Harris camp claims Kratovil trying to 'disenfranchise' voters

With the race in the 1st Congressional District still too close to call, Andy Harris's campaign is accusing its opponent of trying to disenfranchise voters by challenging absentee ballots in Harford County. Democrats, however, responded that those claims are untrue and that the Harris camp is overreacting to standard post-election procedures.

Republican Andy Harris's campaign says Democrat Frank Kratovil's relationships with some trial attorneys are a conflict of interest, but at least two of those attorney's are denying the allegations and one is threatening legal action in response.

Harris ad: Kratovil's liberal policies won't work

Democratic Congressional candidate Frank Kratovil is too liberal for the 1st Congressional District, a new ad from the Andy Harris campaign claims.

"Sadly, Frank Kratovil just doesn't get it," says the ad's narrator. "He wants the same old failed liberal policies. He's wrong. Liberal policies never work."

Kratovil has pushed the idea that he is a moderate throughout the race for the 1st district, which is historically conservative but has an independent bent.
