Sun and Capital Cover Cohen

Our two newspapers each devoted ink to candidate Josh Cohen recently, one purporting to be a news article, the other not even attempting to be anything but a puff piece. The Capital's piece attempted to show that Cohen has his critics, but as the blogger who has been providing most of the news about this for a while, I was rather taken aback that nearly all the information presented about Cohen was either originally presented or already covered here at CP. Be that as it may, at least this article attempted to get at the issues behind the scenes, even though I did most of the work for the reporter, but read this:

The talk outside the Loews Annapolis Hotel after a Democratic mayoral forum last month focused on the standout performance of Josh Cohen, who some said has emerged as the top contender.

Oh Nine On Line for June 22--Attempted Break-in At Eastport Democratic Club

Okay-that headline got your attention. Shades of Watergate....just across the creek from Watergate Apartments...Actually, what happened was that on Saturday morning, the Breakfast with Dems crowd found itself locked out of the club on State Street in Eastport and certain Democratic stalwarts were discussing--perhaps seriously, perhaps in jest, of possibly breaking in the club which was scheduled to host the breakfast. Well, the rain came and it poured and the 25 or 30 folks that gathered huddled under umbrellas, under the tiny porch and underneath their car's hatchbacks. Featured speaker Gil Renaut, in respect to those huddled under umbrellas, made his remarks mercifully brief.

Oh Nine On Line for May 18

First Democratic Breakfast With the Candidates....brought up a crowd of over three dozen, mainly active Democrats, but folks from many wards, to hear Josh Cohen, Trudy McFall and Classie Hoyle speak. With six mayoral candidates and more aldermanic candidates sure to join the fray, it shows that local Democrats are fired up and active. This is a great way to hear candidates up close and personal, so stay tuned. The next event is Saturday, May 30.

I'll be pleased to report information from the Republican committees as I have mentioned before, but they are going to have to make some effort to keep me informed, as the Democrats are doing.
