MARYLAND ANNOUNCES TOLL FREE SWINE FLU INFORMATION LINE
Residents can call 1-877-MDFLU4U (633-5848) Seven days a week

ANNAPOLIS, MD (May 1, 2009) - Governor Martin O’Malley and the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) announced today that 1-877-MDFLU4U (633-5848) has been activated as a statewide toll free information line to answers questions residents may have about the swine flu outbreak.

The service will operate between the hours of 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday – Friday and 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. In addition, DHMH will accept swine flu questions by email at swineflu@dhmh.state.md.us.

“It is of paramount importance to ensure information is available in as many ways as possible,” Governor O’Malley said.

Post Script to the "Annapolis National Clean Energy Park"

News about the new Annapolis National Clean Energy Park made the Baltimore Sun and other publications but it seems that our own city government has little if anything to say about this surprise use of our own 500 acre property. I asked Mayor Ellen "O"'s press secretary, Rhonda Wardlaw, for information about our new Annapolis National Clean Energy Park.

She wrote back, "The renewable energy park or "Clean Energy Park" is in concept only at this point, but I will get you the layout for background. The Park, along with the academic center the Governor just announced in Montgomery County on Tuesday will complement one another, and demonstrates the best in inter-jurisdictional partnerships.

I went to the Montgomery County YR's Charity Ball this evening in Bethesda. It was a great event with a great turnout and raised money for a good cause. Now, I went to this event this evening to support the MoCo YR's club in their endeavors. It certainly wasn't the time to make a political spectacle of the fact that I was running for State YR Chair. My opponent and I were publicly cordial to each other, it was really no big deal. You don't make a scene at an event like this. Or, so I thought....

Leggett in Car Accident

WJLA-TV (Channel 7) says that Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett was involved in a car accident with minor injuries.
Leggett and his wife were passengers of a county SUV being driven by a police officer.  The vehicle was hit by a pick-uyp that ran a red light.
