Ivey keeps name in game for U.S. Attorney

Prince George's County state's Attorney Glenn Ivey (D) isn't ruling out a potential bid for U.S. Attorney in the district of Maryland, but he's also making clear that it's far from the top of his agenda.

"I'm enjoying being state's Attorney in Prince George's County," Ivey told PolitickerMD.com, but said he was flattered to hear his name being kicked around. "I'm not expecting to do anything in the administration besides some transition assistance."

Johnson points finger at unions for ‘unnecessary' furlough plan

Prince George's County Executive Jack Johnson submitted legislation Monday to tackle the county's budget deficit for fiscal year 2009, but said the special measure could have been avoided had it not been for the "ludicrous" demands of organized labor.

The legislation calls for a furlough plan, which would cause all general fund employees to take 80 hours of unpaid leave by June 20, 2009.

According to a statement, Johnson said that all county unions were demanding wage increases of 8 percent, despite knowing there were budget shortfalls.
