July 30, 2009 - 01:15 am

OhNine OnLine for July 30

Trudy McFall has issued a position paper on the governance and control of The Market House which can be viewed at Mcfall .....The Annapolis Business Association, in cooperation with several other area business groups, is hosting a Mayoral Candidate's Forum on the evening of Tuesday August 25, 2009 starting at 6:30. The forum will be at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts and will focus solely on business issues!.....Two other local bloggers covered the debate on Tuesday night and then joined us to celebrate 100,00 blog hits at The Rams Head. Brian Gill of Annapolis Politics wrote that "Paul, realizing that writing about his own debate would constitute '100% bullshit', asked me to write a bit about the event.

CP TO MAYOR: Don't Mess The Market House Up Anymore Than You Have Already Done!

No Long-term plans, leases, renovations or commitment of funds until The next administration is in place. Period. No Exceptions. No Flim Flam. No Skullduggery. No Compromise. No Sell-Out.

You have already left us enough of a legacy with The Market House. Please let your successor and the next City Council and hopefully City Manager make it work. It is fine to get vendors in there for the next six months or so, but that's it. Time to move on and let someone else fix it....or mess it up....

Please send comments, subscribe, share with your friends, and support our sponsors. Join us every Thursday morning from 8-9 am for our Sip N' Blogs held in local coffee shops...except for that one in Eastport we used to patronize...ahhhh choo!.

Oh Nine On Line for May 21... These Flyntz Failed To Strike A Fire

I attended The Republican Breakfast to listen to mayoral candidate Frank Flyntz. I even had to spend the $8! I think it is safe these flyntz did not light a fire under the group that came to listen. Besides that, after weeks and repeated attempts to get him to respond and then actually agree to attend Sip N' Blog, which would have made him the last of all nine mayoral candidates, he backed out, saying it would not be to his benefit. Every other candidate would disagree I am sure. One of the more telling incidents yesterday was when I asked him why his brochure failed to provide his treasurer's name and he matter-of-factly said, "I forgot.

Oh Nine On Line for May 20--Doyel Considers Challenge to Arnett in Ward Eight--What Role Did Cohen and Weikel Have?

Why were Chuck Weikel and Josh Cohen assisting a potentially Republican challenger to one and perhaps two incumbent Democrats? But first this....Ginger Doyel, a noted artist and historian may become the Republican challenger to incumbent Democrat Ross Arnett in Ward Eight. Doyel, 29, had been living in Ward One and was widely rumored to be a possible candidate for Alderman Dick Israel's seat when he was considering a run for mayor. When Israel decided to hold his seat, Doyel and her potential courters lost interest. She then moved away for business and personal reasons. She decided to live in Ward Eight upon her return, both because of her political interests and because of her affinity for Eastport stemming from her book Over the Bridge A History of Eastport at Annapolis published last year.

Oh Nine On Line for May 18

First Democratic Breakfast With the Candidates....brought up a crowd of over three dozen, mainly active Democrats, but folks from many wards, to hear Josh Cohen, Trudy McFall and Classie Hoyle speak. With six mayoral candidates and more aldermanic candidates sure to join the fray, it shows that local Democrats are fired up and active. This is a great way to hear candidates up close and personal, so stay tuned. The next event is Saturday, May 30.

I'll be pleased to report information from the Republican committees as I have mentioned before, but they are going to have to make some effort to keep me informed, as the Democrats are doing.
