Auto industry bailout: How Maryland's delegation voted

The U.S. House of Congress voted Wednesday night to send $14 billion in emergency loans to Detroit automakers.

The Auto Industry Financing and Restructuring Act passed the House 237 to 170. The Maryland delegation voted 6 to 1 in favor of the bill with outgoing U.S. Rep. Wayne Gilchrest (R-Kennedyville) abstaining from the vote. The bailout measure is backed by the White House, but Senate Republicans have shown little support for the bill and are suggesting alternate solutions.

Gilchrest's son blasts Ehrlich in letter to Sun

Outgoing U.S. Rep. Wayne Gilchrest's (R-Kennedyville) son, Kevin Gilchrest, blasted former Gov. Bob Ehrlich (R-Baltimore) in a letter sent to The Baltimore Sun on Tuesday.

Kevin Gilchrest accused Ehrlich of endorsing state Sen. Andy Harris (R-Cockeysville) for all the wrong reasons. Harris knocked off Gilchrest in the 1st Congressional District's February primary, but Gilchrest endorsed Democrat Frank Kratovil, who ultimately won the race.

Could Gilchrest's next gig be in the Obama administration?

Outgoing U.S. Rep. Wayne Gilchrest (R-Kennedyville) may be leaving Congress, but that doesn't mean he'll necessarily be leaving Washington, D.C. Gilchrest's name is being kicked around as a potential candidate for a position at the Environmental Protection Agency.

"He'd be a great pick," Gene Ransom, a Democratic Queen Anne's County Commissioner, told PolitickerMD.com. "I also think Obama's very serious about brining Republicans in."

Harris makes the call, Kratovil declares victory

CENTREVILLE -- Democrat Frank Kratovil declared victory on Tuesday afternoon at the Queen Anne's County Circuit Court after a heated 10-month-long Congressional campaign against Republican Andy Harris.

The 1st District race between Kratovil, the Queen Anne's County state's Attorney, and Harris, a state Senator from Cockeysville, was seen as too close to call on Election Night when Kratovil led Harris by just under 1,000 votes. One week later, Kratovil announced his opponent had called to concede.

Hoyer stumps for Kratovil: 'Ladies and gentleman, we're ahead'

SEVERNA PARK -- House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Mechanicsville) stayed on message Sunday while stumping for Democrat Frank Kratovil.

"Ladies and gentleman, we're ahead," Hoyer told a crowd of roughly 70 volunteers at a Democratic Party HQ in Anne Arundel County.

Hoyer praised the 1st Congressional District's current occupant, U.S. Rep. Wayne Gilchrest (R-Kennedyville), caliing him "one of the most considered, conscientious, intellectually honest Representatives with whom I've served."

Kratovil launches his own 'man on the street' ads

After Republican Andy Harris's campaign released its controversial "man on the street" television ad, Democrat Frank Kratovil seems to have found a few street dwellers of his own.

"I know that Andy Harris is just not a person that I feel that I can trust," a woman on the street says in a new ad launched by the Kratovil campaign on Tuesday.

Harris: Kratovil's 'liberal family' will vote Obama

Republican Andy Harris's campaign is continuing its attacks on Democrat Frank Kratovil, after Congressman Wayne Gilchrest (R-Kennedyville) said he voted for Democratic Governor Martin O'Malley.

"I voted for Martin O'Malley," Gilchrest said at an award ceremony in Annapolis on Monday.
