Richard Neal (D-Springfield)|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=135|height=183]Neal, a member of the powerful Ways and Means Committee and chairman of the Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures, had a good quarter, raising nearly $225,000 up from last quarter's haul of $161,000.
As he is currently unopposed for re-election, his expenditures remained low at around $48,000, allowing his cash on hand to grow by more than $143,000 from the first financial quarter.
Besides donations to some local charities, Neal also directed some of his campaign cash to other Democratic candidates around the country, such as $1,000 to U.S. Rep. Tom Allen (D-Maine) who is challenging U.S. Sen. Susan Collins.
Neal contributed $1,000 each to congressional challengers Joe Garcia, who is challenging Florida Republican Mario Diaz-Balart, and Dan Maffei, who is running for a GOP-held open seat in upstate New York.
Two of the newest members of Congress who won in heavily Republican districts, Travis Childers of Mississippi and Don Cazayoux of Louisiana also received $1,00 from Neal.
In all, Neal paid the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee $71,500 in dues last quarter.
