Kerry camp says Mass. GOP should check out Monster.Com, not TMZ

A spokesman for U.S. Sen. John Kerry (D-Boston) blasted the Massachusetts GOP Tuesday for their statement accompanying photos that surfaced TMZ.com earlier Tuesday.

Pictures of Kerry with college age kids that appear intoxicated in Nantucket were published on TMZ.com early Tuesday (PolitickerMA.com's Wally Edge commented on the photos here).

Along with the photos, the Massachusetts Republican Party sent out a statement in which Executive Director Robert Willington said, "If it wasn't for these photographs, the voters probably wouldn't have even known that John Kerry was in Massachusetts this year."

David Wade, Kerry's spokesman, responded in kind, striking back at both the party and Barney Keller, their spokesman.

"No wonder everyone in the Massachusetts Republican party was shocked by the photo --they've never had a candidate surrounded by supporters," he said. "If I was Barney Keller, I'd spend my time surfing Monster.Com looking for a new job instead of looking at gossip websites. Or hey, better yet, maybe they should've put this kind of energy into actually getting Jim Ogonowski on the ballot to get thrashed by John Kerry in November."
