State Rep. looks forward to speech tonight, says McCain has 'big shoes to fill'

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- State Rep. Robert Hargraves said Thursday that presumptive GOP presidential nominee John McCain will break the mold of the typical acceptance speech Thursday night, highlighting his uniqueness as a candidate.

Hargraves, a delegate from Groton, said he is looking forward to McCain's speech, even though "he's got big shoes to fill after Sarah," referring to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's primetime speech Wednesday night.

The Republican National Convention has altered the stage for McCain's speech tonight, extending it out into the audience. Hargraves said he expects McCain to wander away from the podium, allowing him to interact with the audience. The setup, Hargraves said, will be reminiscent of McCain's town hall meetings.

"He's going to be John McCain," he said. "He's can't be somebody else. And if he's John McCain, he'll win."
