Biden: McCain using same tactics once used against him

Biden, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, told supporters at a fundraiser that Bush's presidential campaign used smear campaigns against McCain.

"What really disappoints me is the very tactics used against him, they're trying to use against Barack Obama now," Biden said, according to pool reports. "It's literally saddening. I didn't expect it. But I guess I should learn to expect everything."

The senator from Delaware called the smear campaign "Karl Rovian tactics" and said he would not allow such tactics to work in this election as they did in 2004 when the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth cast doubt on then-Democratic nominee John Kerry's Vietnam record.

"Swiftboating is not going to work this time, and the reason it's not is, number one, I'm going to smack 'em right square in the chops," Biden said. "I tell you what, you know anything about me, I ain't rolling over. There's no possibility."
