Mass. GOP criticizes Patrick for appearing on Wilkerson auto-calls

The Massachusetts Republican Party criticized Democratic Gov. Deval Patrick late Friday for recording auto-calls for state Sen. Dianne Wilkerson.

"It's no surprise that Deval Patrick is recording a call on behalf of an ethically challenged lawmaker considering his own ethically challenged history of making phone calls on behalf of subprime lender Ameriquest," said Barney Keller, the party's spokesman.

The governor's office declined to comment on Keller's remarks.

PolitickerMA.com reported Thursday that Wilkerson (D-Boston) is planning on running auto-calls on Election Day next Tuesday featuring Patrick (D-Milton), Boston Mayor Tom Menino (D) and Congressman Michael Capuano (D-Somerville).

Keller also called on Patrick and Wilkerson to release the audio of the call.
