A campaign mailing on behalf of Governor's Councilor Kelly Timilty features an endorsement and signature of Gov. Deval Patrick that sources close to the governor say are forged, PolitickerMA.com has learned.

The mailing, obtained by PolitickerMA.com Tuesday, shows a picture of Timilty (D-Dedham) with Patrick (D-Milton) above the headline "Timilty means public service."

"Please join me in supporting Kelly Timilty for Governor's Council," the fake endorsement reads. "Kelly has proven time and again that she is up to the challenge of representing her district in the Governor's Council."

Sources close to the governor told PolitickerMA.com that the statement did not come from Patrick and the signature at the bottom of the mailing is forged.

Calls to Timilty's office were not immediately returned.

Timilty is defending her District 2 seat on the governor's council Tuesday against primary challenger Robert Jubinville of Milton.

Jubinville's campaign declined to comment on the mailer.
