Hecht wins primary

Jonathan Hecht has won the Democratic primary in Middlesex County's 29th District state House seat, according to Watertown election officials.

Officials in the Watertown clerk's office told PolitickerMA.com Wednesday that Hecht received 2,152 votes. Julia Fahey, a Watertown attorney, received 1,555 votes and Watertown Councilor Steven Corbett drew 298 votes. Jonathan Weisbuch received just nine votes.

Because the race was determined solely by sticker and write-in votes, results were not available late into Tuesday night.

Assuming these results are made official, Hecht, who is a senior researcher at Yale, will be the Democratic nominee to replace Rachel Kaprielian in the State House.

Note: These figures do not include vote counts from the three Cambridge precincts in the district.
