Report: Timilty apologizes but still thinks Gov. endorsed her

Governor's Councilor Kelly Timilty apologized to Gov. Deval Patrick for using a forged endorsement in a campaign mailing Wednesday, the Boston Globe reports.

Timilty's camp also maintained, however, that it believed it had Patrick's endorsement.

PolitickerMA.com reported Tuesday afternoon that Timilty, a Dedham Democrat, distributed a mailing that featured an endorsement from Patrick (D-Milton) that was phony.

Larry Rasky, the veteran Boston political operative, told the Globe that the campaign made a mistake in the rush up to the election.

"Campaigns move quickly and think like that happen," Rasky, who is representing Timilty, said. "It was a misunderstanding. Somebody moved quickly without running the traps. All I can tell you is it was a terrible mistake, and she conveyed that to the governor."

"They obviously felt they had the approval to do that," Rasky added, "And they obviously didn't."

Rasky also reiterated that Timilty "felt like she had" Patrick's endorsement.
