Rasky steps in to help Timilty

Those reading Thursday morning's Boston Globe story on the ongoing saga surrounding Kelly Timilty's mailer that featured a forged endorsement from Gov. Deval Patrick might have noticed a familiar name: Larry Rasky.

Rasky, a longtime Boston Democratic strategist, was quoted as a spokesman for Timilty.  Rasky explained that Timilty (D-Dedham) called the governor to apologize for the mailer Wednesday, the same day that Rasky joined the Timilty campaign.

Rasky told PolitickerMA.com Thursday that, after the story broke Tuesday, he stepped into the role of spokesman for the governor's councilor the following day. He is helping Timilty, he said, because he has a long-term relationship with the family. In 1979, Rasky was the deputy press secretary on the mayoral campaign of Timilty's father, Joe.

Rasky is perhaps best known for his close relationship with Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden. Rasky was Biden's press flack during his 1987 presidential run.

And by the way, Rasky said "nothing's changed" with regards to the mailer.
