Cangiamila on the ballot in Middlesex-4

Republican Brion Cangiamila is set to make another run for Middlesex County's 4th District state Senate seat.

The Lowell Sun reports that the Billerica Republican secured enough write-in votes in last Tuesday's primary to earn a spot on the November ballot. Cangiamila also ran for the seat in the 2007 special election, losing to Jim Marzilli. Marzilli is not seeking re-election as he faces charges of assaulting several women.

Cangiamila will face Ken Donnelly in the general election. Donnelly, a retired firefighter, bested Jack Hurd in last Tuesday's Democratic primary.

The Sun reports that Cangiamila needed 300 write-in votes to get on the ballot and received 451, according to the unofficial results.
