Poll: Nearly even split on Question 1

A recent poll shows that Bay State voters are divided on whether they will support Question 1, a measure that would eliminate the state income tax, on the November ballot.

The poll, conducted by Survey USA and WBZ-TV on Sept. 22 and 23, found that 34 percent of 679 likely voters are certain to vote against the measure while 31 percent said they were certain to vote for it. Thirty five percent said they were not sure certain which way they will vote.

The respondents were first asked if they were certain they would either vote ‘yes' or ‘no' on the question. If they were not certain, they were asked which option they lean toward. Of that uncertain 35 percent, 39 percent are leaning toward voting for it, 38 percent are leaning towards voting against it and 23 are still unsure.

There was a 3.8 percent margin of error on the poll. Check out the the breakdown here.
