State Sen. Scott Brown received the endorsement of the Massachusetts AFL-CIO, one of the Bay State's leading labor organizations, on Tuesday.

Scott Brown (R-Wrentham)|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=142|height=181]"I am both honored and humbled by the endorsement of AFL-CIO, the single most effective force of improving the economic stability and security of working families and communities throughout the Commonwealth," Brown, a Wrentham Republican, said. "They represent the foundation of this great country. Our growth as an industrialized nation is due in no small part to the men and women of organized labor."

Brown is currently facing a challenge from Sara Orozco, a Needham Democrat. The race has drawn some media attention since Brown is widely considered to be a rising Republican in Massachusetts.

The Massachusetts AFL-CIO encompasses over 750 affiliated unions that represent 400,000 organized workers, according to the Brown campaign.

"Through our endorsement process Senator Brown demonstrated his commitment to the working families of the commonwealth," Robert Haynes, the president of the Massachusetts AFL-CIO, said in the endorsement letter. "We are proud to stand behind candidates who strive to be true advocates of working men and women."
