Delahunt to vote against bailout

Congressman Bill Delahunt plans to vote against the economic bailout plan Friday, according to this office.

[img_assist|nid=151|title=U.S. Rep. Bill Delahunt (D-Quincy)|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=141|height=140]The Quincy Democrat voted against the measure on Monday and has not been persuaded by the add-ons the U.S. Senate added to the bill before passing it on Wednesday.

The Associated Press first reported on Thursday that Delahunt still opposes the bill. Delahunt's office confirmed that he had not changed his mind Friday.

Delahunt, along with Congressman John Tierney (D-Salem) and Stephen Lynch (D-Boston), voted against the measure on Monday.

In his interview with the AP, Delahunt said the bill still places an unfair burden on taxpayers.

"I don't want my people, taxpayers, to be stuck paying for this if there's a shortfall," Delahunt told the AP. "Who pays? Is it going to be working families scraping by or is it going to be those that profited on Wall Street. Taxpayers shouldn't have to pay."
