Benson: Question 1 would be devastating

Jen Benson, the Lunenburg Democrat running for Middlesex County's 37th District House seat, said Tuesday that Question 1 could have a significant negative impact on the state's fiscal status.

Benson said she "understands the frustration" many in Massachusetts feel that would compel them to support the measure. But that cynicism has developed because "people don't see where their money is going and they feel that there is a lot of waste," she said. "That's what we need to be addressing."

To do that, Benson said the legislature and state government should work to improve transparency.

It should be noted that Benson's opponent in the Middlesex County 37th District race, Republican Kurt Hayes of Boxborough, also opposes Question 1.
