Beatty camp launches WheresJohnKerry.com

Republican Senate challenger Jeff Beatty's campaign launched www.WheresJohnKerry.com Friday, a site that compares U.S. Sen. John Kerry to the "Where's Waldo" cartoon character, red and white hat and all.

In particular, the website highlights Kerry's recent trips to Wisconsin and Mississippi to campaign for Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

"John Kerry doesn't work on so many levels: during the bailout; during the energy crisis; when families need him to make the right decision on Iraq; as a senator; for us," said Christine Hunsinger, a spokesman for the Beatty campaign. "But rest assured, whether it's hanging with AIG in Vermont or stumping around the country on Obama's dime, we're the ones left behind."

The Kerry campaign didn't any find humor in the website.

"Here we go again - more of the same old, same old," said Brigid O'Rourke, a spokesman for the Boston Democrat. "When given the opportunity to talk substantively about the real issues facing Massachusetts and the nation, Jeff Beatty goes to the Republican playbook and - surprise - goes on the attack."

Beatty, who is trailing in recent polls, has claimed throughout his campaign that Kerry does not spend enough time in the Bay State.

O'Rourke also defended Kerry's efforts on behalf of Obama.

"You're darn right that John Kerry is going to do everything he can to make sure McCain/Palin - the ticket Mr. Beatty supports - isn't elected," O'Rourke said. "This is the most important election of our lifetime and Democrats across Massachusetts are all working hard to make sure that Senator Obama wins on Nov. 4th."
