GOP launches video hitting Patrick for Wilkerson endorsement

The Massachusetts Republican Party pieced together a web video Tuesday that seeks to tie Gov. Deval Patrick to state Sen. Dianne Wilkerson, who was arrested by the FBI Tuesday and faces corruption charges.

Patrick backed Wilkerson in her primary against Sonia Chang-Diaz this year and recorded a robo-call on Wilkerson's behalf that was used on Election Day.

The GOP's video displays the undercover FBI photos of Wilkerson allegedly accepting money from an informant while Patrick's robo-call plays in the background.

Patrick's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Boston Herald reported Tuesday that Patrick said in a statement that "the initial reports are both troubling and sad."

“These are very serious charges and I will trust the judicial process to take them seriously," Patrick said.
