Schilling blasts Wilkerson

Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling recently blasted state Sen. Dianne Wilkerson for her arrest on charges of accepting $23,500 in bribes, the Boston Herald reports .

Schilling also criticized Beacon Hill for perpetuating a culture of corruption.

"All the corruption and the crap we're dealing with in Massachusetts, every day you open the paper another politician is indicted. It's embarrassing," Schilling said, according to the Herald.

The Herald wrote that Schilling launched his attack on Wilkerson and Beacon Hill while recently discussing why he supports Republican John McCain's presidential candidacy.

"There needs to be a different set of rules," Schilling said. "Elected officials should be held to higher standards, but it seems to be the exact opposite, we hold them to lower standards. Just look at who is in office...At best [Wilkerson] should be suspended without pay, she's proven morally and ethically she's a corrupt human being and she's betrayed confidence of people who put her in there."
