Bennett says Turner should resign

Doug Bennett, a Republican at-large Boston City Council candidate, said Friday that City Councilor Chuck Turner should resign in light of the allegations that he accepted a $1,000 bribe.

"I call on Councilor Turner to resign immediately," Bennett, who lives in Boston's North End, said in a statement.

Bennett told PolitickerMA.com that people want politicians they can trust.

"Everyone knows that there is a cloud of corruption that sits about City Hall and Beacon Hill," he said. "It's unfair for the people and the people deserve good, honest politicians. They deserve fresh blood. And I believe that Chuck Turner will not be the last city councilor to go down in connection with [former state Sen.] Dianne Wilkerson."
