Mid-Morning Read: Redefining black politics, term limits, Cape Wind

Leaders in Boston's black community are thinking of ways to redefine black politics in light of the arrests of state Sen. Dianne Wilkerson and Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner.

Boston City Councilor John Tobin wants to let voters decide whether city councilors and the mayor should be term-limited. Other councilors, however, have yet to take a side on the issue.

Tobin's colleague and potential 2009 Boston mayoral candidate Michael Flaherty got a dig in on Mayor Tom Menino, calling the city's evacuation plan a "joke."

Gov. Deval Patrick's nomination of Ralph Gants to the Supreme Judicial Court isn't making any waves in the legal community.

Beacon Hill announced hearings on what is becoming an increasingly political issue: Transportation.

Opponents of Cape Wind aren't going to be very happy with the latest federal report, including one activist that violated ethics laws.

And here's video of U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy's (D-Hyannis Port) speech Monday as he accepted an honorary degree from Harvard University, from NECN.
