Rasmussen: Nearly 80 percent approve of Obama transition

Nearly 80 percent of Massachusetts voters approve of Barack Obama's performance as president-elect, according to a new Rasmussen Reports poll.

Fifty-five percent of respondents of the poll, which was conducted on Dec. 9, said they "strongly approve" of Obama's performance.

Massachusetts voted overwhelmingly for Obama in his general election match up against GOP nominee John McCain. Massachusetts backed U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton by a 15-point margin in the presidential primary this year, however, and the poll was conducted after Obama nominated Clinton to be his secretary of state.

Here is a breakdown of the poll, which surveyed 500 likely voters and had a margin of error of 4.5 percent:

How would you rate the job Barack Obama has been doing as President-Elect... do you strongly approve, somewhat approve, somewhat disapprove, or strongly disapprove of the job he's been doing?

55% Strongly approve

23% Somewhat approve

10% Somewhat disapprove

10% Strongly disapprove

2% Not sure
