Toll hike opponents turn to chicken suit

After numerous rallies and protests, a planned then cancelled "Boston Toll Party" and a "penny protest," the "Stop the Pike Hike" gang appears to have settled on a new strategy - and it involves a chicken suit.

On Wednesday one member of "Stop the Pike Hike" donned a chicken suit and vowed to shadow Gov. Deval Patrick until he agrees to a debate with the group. On Monday, according to a release, the chicken attended a transportation hearing on raising the state's gas tax and met with Mark Lilienthal, Patrick's director of constituent services.

Patrick's office did not respond to a request for comment.

Andrew Kenneally, an East Boston native who is considering a run for Boston City Council next year, is working with the "Stop the Pike Hike" group.
