Willington confirms, leaving Mass. GOP

Robert Willington confirmed in an email Saturday night that he is leaving his post as executive director of the Massachusetts Republican Party.

"I will be leaving the Massachusetts GOP," he wrote to PolitickerMA.com.

In his email, Willington stressed the use of new media technology in building the party. During his tenure with the party, Willington has been instrumental in building an online presence.

"I have great hopes for the Massachusetts GOP in the future and there is a tremendous amount of tools for the new team to use. More importantly, there are a lot of new activists that we have identified and brought in through innovative online initiatives. I'm confident that the building will continue and that the MassGOP will focus on self-organizing, which can only happen by empowering individuals with new media."
