Harvard Law School Professor Cass Sunstein is slated to become a top regulatory official in President-elect Barack Obama's administration, the Washington Post reported Thursday.
Sunstein will head the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, the Washington Post reports, citing an anonymous transition official.
Sunstein is considered one of the top constitutional lawyers in the country. He reportedly became a close friend of Obama's when they both taught at the University of Chicago's law school. Harvard's hiring of Sunstein from the University of Chicago, in 2008, was considering a significant coup for the school at the time.
Sunstein is the second member of Harvard Law's community to be tapped by Obama this week. Elena Kagan, Harvard's dean, notified students that she had been selected to become Obama's solicitor general on Monday.
Sunstein is married to Samantha Power, the advisor who left Obama's campaign after calling U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) a "monster." Power is currently a professor at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government.
