Campbell survives primary

For a second time, freshman Democratic State Rep. Linda Dean Campbell easily defeated Christopher DiBella for the Methuen House seat.

With all 11 precincts reporting Campbell grabbed 2,478 votes to DiBella's 1,982 for a 56 percent to 44 percent win.

Campbell defeated DiBella in the 2006 Democratic also. 

She now faces independent Joseph Leone, a Methuen city councilor in the general election.

Swift rallies in defense of Palin

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Former Gov. Jane Swift (R-North Adams) was the lead defender of what she called "sexist" media attacks on Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin in the last week. 

"It is clear that Sarah Palin loves her children and we should leave it at that," said Swift.
