Teabag thuggery in Worcester

Reader billxi writes in approvingly of the story of US Reps Jim McGovern and Richard Neal getting shouted down by teabagging thugs in Worcester.

WORCESTER —  U.S. Reps. James P. McGovern and Richard E. Neal were heckled and booed after trying to rally support today for President Barack Obama's plan for a comprehensive national health insurance program.

The two Worcester-area Democratic lawmakers were shouted down several times by people attending a packed “town hall” meeting at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

UMass officials threatened several times to end the gathering because of the raucous behavior, which occurred despite a heavy police presence.

At one point, Mr.

Ezedi Running At-Large

I'm a couple of days late with this, but I think I'm still the first to report it: Egobudike "Ego" Ezedi, executive director of the Roxbury YMCA, sent an email letter out to his associates earlier this week, with this announcement:

I want to announce that I will be taking a nine-month leave of absence beginning Saturday, March 28, 2009 to begin campaigning full-time for one of four At-Large Boston City Council seats.

Ezedi's intention to run has been much-rumored for months. He ran in District 4, against Charles Yancey, six years ago, and put up a credible challenge that was ultimately defeated, as the "old guard" of the African-American community rallied around the incumbent.

Obama Plays It Cautious; Panders To NC

The White House has released Barack Obama's handwritten grid of picks for the NCAA Men's Tournament. His predictions are incredibly conservative -- in the "wuss" meaning of the word, not the political meaning. Almost exclusively favorites throughout.

His Final Four: Louisville, Memphis, Pitt, and North Carolina. That's two states he lost (and has no chance in for 2012), and two states he won.

North Carolina was a big win for him in '08, but it was a squeaker, so guess what school he's got winning the championship?

He slightly dissed #1 seed UConn (a gimme state for him), and #2 seed Oklahoma -- the state that gave him the largest margin of defeat in the country. So there, Sooners!

Daniel Kurtzman:
"Secretary of Defense Robert Gates was on 'Meet the Press' yesterday. And he said that Barack Obama is more analytical than President Bush. Well, there's a shock, huh? I think Tickle Me Elmo is more analytical than President Bush." --Jay Leno

"Actually, this past weekend, the Conservative Political Action Conference picked Mitt Romney over Sarah Palin in their straw poll to be the next presidential candidate. Yeah. Well, it's kind of interesting. I mean, one is just a pretty face, obsessed with makeup and hair. And the other, of course, is the governor of Alaska." --Jay Leno

"How many watched the Obama speech on Tuesday night? If you didn't see it, I'll give you the short version.

Another Exciting CPAC Day

Big, exciting day at CPAC today: Schlafly, Bennett, Coulter, Horowitz, Limbaugh, Santorum, and oh so many more -- plus Romney's attempt to three-peat in the annual straw poll.

But for me the highlight is the presentation of the Conservative Blogger Award, which is going to Steven Gilchrest.

Now, there are good conservative bloggers and bad conservative bloggers, and there are insane conservative bloggers and there are WTF!?!?!? conservative bloggers... and then there's Steven Gilbert.

The first time I came across Gilbert was back in 2004, when he suggested that John Kerry should be court-marshalled and perhaps executed for his actions in Paris, 1970.

Gilbert spent most of that fall obsessed with Kerry's behavior around that time period -- including claims that he plotted to assassinate leaders of the US government.
