Republicans remember the 90s. Do we?

Last fall, Barack Obama won a resounding victory, earning 66 million votes, defeating John McCain 53%-46%. Democrats gained seats in both the House and Senate. The election was clearly about change. Yet since January, Republicans have fought President Obama on nearly every proposal and nomination he's put forward. Why?

Because they remember the lessons of this man.

In 1993 and 1994, Newt Gingrich changed the way that the Republican party does business. Before Gingrich, there were policy differences, but strong working relationships allowed major legislation to move when Reagan and Bush Sr. worked with Democratic Speaker Tip O'Neill.

Goldin's and Katz's thesis is that the 20th century was the American century in large part because this country led the world in education.

Former White House Chief of Staff Andy Card said Tuesday morning that he is intrigued by the prospect of U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton becoming President-elect Barack Obama's secretary of state.

DENVER -- John Podesta, President Bill Clinton's former chief of staff, told the Massachusetts Democratic delegation Thursday that[img_assist|nid=921|title=John Podesta|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=180|height=225] the Democrats must be ready for a long, hard fight against the Republicans in the general election.
