Boston City Councilor and potential mayoral candidate Sam Yoon finished 2008 with more than $132,000 in his campaign war chest, according to his most recent report with the Office Campaign and Political Finance.

Yoon calls for Boston commissions to post information online

Boston City Councilor Sam Yoon introduced legislation on Wednesday that would require all of the city's commissions and boards all information relative to members and meetings on the internet.

Yoon, of Dorchester, said the legislation seeks to increase citizens' access to government.

"I am a strong advocate of open and accountable government that acts within clearly established boundaries," Yoon said in a statement. "A government that can act arbitrarily and in secret invites corruption, special pleading and trading favors."

Menino outraises, outspends possible 2009 challengers

Facing the prospect of two potential challengers in next year's election, Boston Mayor Tom Menino raised significantly more money than his potential challengers in the last two weeks of November, according to recent campaign finance reports.

Menino also spent more than those two potential opponents, Boston City Councilors Sam Yoon and Michael Flaherty, including $30,000 to a California opinion research firm.

Yoon, Flaherty set to hold high profile hearings this week

Boston City Councilors Michael Flaherty and Sam Yoon, both of whom have said they are looking at running for mayor next year, are holding high profile hearings this week, the Boston Globe reports.

Flaherty, a South Boston at-large councilor, is slated to present proposals to ban armor-piercing ammunition in Boston and implement tougher penalties for those convicted of possession of illegal handguns at a hearing Wednesday afternoon.

Yoon on Obama and considering a run for mayor

BOSTON - Boston City Councilor Sam Yoon said Tuesday night he is still weighing whether he will run for mayor of Boston in 2009.

Yoon made waves earlier this year when the Boston Globe reported that he was fundraising for a possible mayoral run in San Francisco, Calif. Yoon said then that he was considering running but that he hadn't made up his mind yet.
