Gregoire: We left it all on the field

MARLBOROUGH - Waiting outside to cast her ballot early Tuesday morning, Democratic State House candidate Danielle Gregoire said she already can't wait to see the results.

"I'm excited about this," she told PolitickerMA.com. "We worked hard and left it all on the field. No regrets."

Gregoire, of Marlborough, is running against Marlborough Republican Arthur Vigeant in Middlesex County's 4th District. The 4th District's seat was vacated by state Rep. Stephen LeDuc, who Gregoire has worked for in the State House.

Vigeant: Today the hard work pays off

MARLBOROUGH - Arthur Vigeant, the Republican vying for Middlesex County's 4th District House seat, said Tuesday morning that he hopes Election Day will justify all of the hard work he and his staff have put into the campaign.

Election officials: Turnout already high

MARLBOROUGH - Election officials at the Francis J. Kane school polling place here said that they could tell turnout is going to be high as soon as the doors opened at 7 a.m.

Betty Peltekis, an election warden, said the line started forming in front of the school at 6:15 a.m. By 6:45 a.m., the line was already wrapping around the school.

Asked if she thinks turnout will reach record highs, Peltekis replied: "Oh yeah."

Herald endorses Brown, Chang-Diaz, Haley, Vigeant

The Boston Herald endorsed four state House candidates this week.

The Herald noted in its editorial Monday that with so few competitive races this year, it makes picking candidates easier but that "in the interest of a thriving democracy we certainly hope this is the low point."

The daily backed Republican state Sen. Scott Brown in his race against Needham Democrat Sara Orozco in the Norfolk, Bristol and Middlesex District.

Vigeant opposes Question 1

Republican state House candidate Arthur Vigeant said Tuesday that he also opposes Question 1, the ballot measure that would abolish the state income tax.

Vigeant, of Marlborough, is running against Democrat Danielle Gregoire for state Rep. Stephen LeDuc's seat in Middlesex County's 4th House District.

Vigeant told PolitickerMA.com that he understands why people supported the measure and got it on the ballot but that, ultimately, it would cripple the government.

Democratic state House candidate Danielle Gregoire is opposed to Question 1, the ballot measure that would abolish the state income tax.
