Romney to appear on MTP Sunday

Former Gov. Mitt Romney is slated to appear as a guest on NBC's Meet the Press on Sunday, according to the network.

Romney, a Belmont Republican, will be part of a roundtable on the economy. Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm (D), former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, Wal-Mart CEO Lee Scott, and Google CEO Eric Schmidt will also be on the panel.

Tsongas applauds Obama’s cabinet picks for balance of experienced and new thinking

CAMBRIDGE - Congresswoman Niki Tsongas on Thursday praised President-elect Barack Obama's selections for his cabinet and said she is glad he is selecting some newer voices as part of his administration.

"I think he's composed a team of rivals of enormous stature and ability," Tsongas, a Lowell Democrat, told PolitickerMA.com, referencing Doris Kearns Goodwin's book on President Abraham Lincoln's advisors by that name.

Kerry fields questions, calls for prosecutions of private sector wrongdoing in economic crisis

CAMBRIDGE - U.S. Sen. John Kerry fielded questions ranging from mass transit to foreign policy to the current economic crisis here Monday night in a town hall meeting.

The forum took place at Lesley University's Prospect Hall near Port Square. Kerry, a Boston Democrat, attended the event following the special convocation ceremony at Harvard University for U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

Olver looking forwards to getting to work with President Obama

After cruising to re-election Tuesday night, Congressman John Olver said he is looking forward to tackling the challenges facing the country with President-elect Barack Obama.

With 97 percent of precincts reporting, the Boston Globe has projected that Olver, an Amherst Democrat, has defeated West Springfield Republican Nathan Bech. Olver earned 73 percent of the vote.

Frank: Democrats will pursue stimulus package after election

Congressman Barney Frank said Sunday that congressional Democrats will push for another [img_assist|nid=496|title=U.S. Rep. Barney Frank (D-Newton)|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=116|height=180]stimulus package after the November election.

It was reported over the weekend that the Democratic leadership is considering a middle class stimulus package that could be as large as $150 billion.

In an appearance on ABC's "This Week" with George Stephanopoulos, Frank said the reports were accurate.
