Catch Me On TV Tonight

I'll be on BNN's Talk of the Neighborhoods with Joe Heisler tonight, from 7:30-8:00.

And sometime later in the evening, I should get the results of tonight's big election. You know, the political story everyone's been buzzing about lately -- the new chairman of the Massachusetts Republican Party!

People haven't been buzzing?

Jennifer Nassour of Boston is considered the favorite, but some folks have told me it's not a done deal. I would go into it more, but I find it very hard to believe that any of you actually care that much. I mean, seriously. And, I gotta get going -- don't want to be late for Joe's show!

Franco enters GOP chair race swinging

Michael Franco may have quietly entered the race for chair of the Massachusetts Republican Party a couple of weeks ago, but since then he has made a splash by criticizing Jennifer Nassour, the other candidate in the race.

Brown officially backs Nassour for state GOP chair

Scott Brown, one of five Republicans in the state Senate, announced his support on Monday for Jennifer Nassour's candidacy for chair of the Massachusetts Republican Party.

"I have officially endorsed Jennifer Nassour because she has a clear vision for the future of the party," Brown, a Wrentham Republican, said. "She is a breath of fresh air and has the experience and skills necessary to usher the party back to where we should be so that we can bring reform, common sense, and balance to state...government."

Nassour unveils plan for the future of the Mass. GOP

Republican State Committee member Jennifer Nassour, the only declared candidate for chairman of the state GOP, unveiled her plan for the future of the party to the State Committee this week.

The plan, which she told PolitickerMA.com is still a work in progress, is a seven-page long document that focuses on four broad areas - fundraising, grassroots organization, messaging and outreach - and calls for the party to more aggressively draw contrasts with Democrats.

Nassour to attend Mass. GOP Chair forum, Manzoli considers

Jennifer Nassour said Monday that she is committed to attending a forum for declared candidates for Massachusetts GOP chairman.

And, despite being the only declared candidate, she may have company.

Joe Manzoli told PolitickerMA.com that he is also considering attending the forum, which will be held on Dec. 18 at the public library in Dartmouth.

Manzoli ‘open’ to running for GOP chair

Joe Manzoli, Republican U.S. Senate challenger Jeff Beatty's campaign manager this year, said over the weekend that he is considering running for chairman of the Massachusetts Republican Party.

"I'm open to it," Manzoli told PolitickerMA.com. "I've received probably 15 emails from people asking me to run."

Manzoli said he has not decided whether he will run or not because he just returned from a two-week trip to Italy with his wife.

Fundraising key for GOP rebuilding, Nassour says

NEWTON -- In order for the Massachusetts GOP to overcome its current woes, the party must focus significant efforts on fundraising, Jennifer Nassour, a candidate for chairman of the Massachusetts GOP, said this week.

In an interview with PolitickerMA.com before the Republican State Committee's meeting Monday night, Nassour said fundraising will be key for the party to expand its now miniscule number of Bay State officials.

Ogonowski a no go on Mass. GOP chair

Jim Ogonowski said Friday that he is definitely not interested in running for chairman of the Massachusetts GOP.

"Never even considered it," Ogonowski, a Dracut Republican, told PolitickerMA.com.

Ogonowski became a rising star of the Republican Party during his run against Congresswoman Niki Tsongas in the 2007 special election for the 5th Congressional District. Ogonowski was also set to challenge U.S. Sen. John Kerry this year until he failed to submit enough signatures to get on the primary ballot.

Nassour looks to bring fight back to Mass. GOP

The Massachusetts Republican Party needs serious change, Republican Party Chair candidate Jennifer Nassour said Monday. Nassour, of Charlestown, is challenging current Republican Chair Peter Torkildsen for his job.

In an interview with PolitickerMA.com, Nassour said she is tired of Republicans in Massachusetts getting walked on by Democrats and the numerous scandals on Beacon Hill.
