With help from firefighters, Donnelly vastly outpaces Hurd in fundraising but trails in cash on hand

In the race for James Marzilli's state Senate seat, Ken Donnelly raised significantly more money than his opponent in the Democratic primary, Jack Hurd, relying significantly on his ties to firefighter unions across the country, according to campaign finance reports.

Hurd and Donnelly strive to stand out at public forum

ARLINGTON -- State Senate Democratic candidates John “Jack” Hurd and Kenneth Donnelly squared off for the first time Wednesday night in Arlington.

The two candidates are competing in the Democratic primary to replace state Sen. James Marzilli (D-Arlington), who has said he will not seek reelection after being charged with multiple sexual assault charges.

Hurd makes his case for the state Senate

When state Sen. J. James Marzilli's (D-Arlington) now much publicized June 3 arrest for groping and harassing women forced the first term senator to give up him his bid for re-election, he opened the door for two Democrats that have been waiting for the opportunity to run for the 4th Middlesex District seat: Kenneth Donnelly and John W. "Jack" Hurd.
