Herald endorses Kerry

The Boston Herald endorsed U.S. Sen. John Kerry Tuesday in his re-election bid against Republican Jeff Beatty.

The Herald wrote that Kerry's experience and seniority will be pivotal for Massachusetts as the country faces difficult challenges ahead.

"With Sen. Edward M. Kennedy ailing, Kerry's advocacy on behalf of this state and its people becomes ever more important," the Herald wrote.

Herald endorses Brown, Chang-Diaz, Haley, Vigeant

The Boston Herald endorsed four state House candidates this week.

The Herald noted in its editorial Monday that with so few competitive races this year, it makes picking candidates easier but that "in the interest of a thriving democracy we certainly hope this is the low point."

The daily backed Republican state Sen. Scott Brown in his race against Needham Democrat Sara Orozco in the Norfolk, Bristol and Middlesex District.

Eagle-Tribune backs McCain

The Eagle-Tribune endorsed Republican nominee John McCain for president on Sunday.

The paper, based in Lawrence, wrote in an editorial that the country needs the Arizonan's experience as it faces numerous challenges.

Globe urges votes against all 3 ballots questions

The Boston Globe editorial board came down against all three questions that will appear on the ballot in November.

On Question 1, the measure that would abolish the state income tax, the Globe wrote Tuesday that the current financial crisis only underlines the need for a "no" vote on the measure.
