Rasmussen: Plurality of Mass. voters think Mass. health care plan would be good for country

A plurality of Massachusetts voters in a recent survey believe that Massachusetts' health care plan, which requires everyone to obtain insurance and provides subsidized health care for those who cannot afford it, would be good for the country.

The Rasmussen Reports poll, which was conducted on Dec. 9, found that 40 percent of 500 respondents believed the plan would be good for the rest of the country. Twenty-eight percent said it would be bad for the country, while 11 percent said it would have no impact and 20 percent said they were not sure.

Rasmussen: Nearly 80 percent approve of Obama transition

Nearly 80 percent of Massachusetts voters approve of Barack Obama's performance as president-elect, according to a new Rasmussen Reports poll.

Fifty-five percent of respondents of the poll, which was conducted on Dec. 9, said they "strongly approve" of Obama's performance.

Rasmussen: Kennedy has 65 percent approval rating

Massachusetts' senior U.S. senator, Edward Kennedy, remains one of the most popular pols in the Bay State, according to a recent survey by Rasmussen Reports.

The poll, conducted of 500 likely Massachusetts voters on Dec. 9, showed that 65 percent have a favorable impression of Kennedy, a Hyannis Port Democrat. On the other hand, 33 percent have an unfavorable view.

Rasmussen: 55 percent approve of Patrick’s job performance, 41 disapprove

A recent poll shows that 55 percent of likely Massachusetts voters approve of the job Gov. Deval Patrick is doing while 41 percent disapprove.

The Rasmussen Reports survey is likely welcome news in the governor's office following a recent SurveyUSA/WBZ-TV poll that showed 50 percent disapproving of Patrick's performance and just 45 percent approving of it.

Romney on McCain's path to victory

Former Gov. Mitt Romney said Monday that GOP presidential nominee's John McCain's economic plan is helping him close the gap in pivotal states he must carry to win the presidency on Tuesday.

Speaking via satellite from Toledo, Ohio, on MSNBC's Morning Joe, Romney, a Belmont Republican and 2008 presidential contender, said recent Mason-Dixon polling shows McCain closing ground.

Beatty: Campaign going exactly as planned

Republican U.S. Senate challenger Jeff Beatty said Sunday that his campaign to defeat John Kerry is going exactly as planned.

In a telephone interview with PolitickerMA.com on the way to the first of three campaign events on Sunday, Beatty said he knew all along that they would have to make a move late in the race to close the gap with Kerry.

"This is exactly the way we knew the plan had to unfold," Beatty said, "that we were going to have to rise up in the last days of the campaign."

Suffolk: Kerry leads Beatty by 37

With just 11 days until the election, a recent Suffolk University/7News poll shows U.S. Sen. John Kerry with a substantial lead over Republican challenger Jeff Beatty.

Kerry, a Boston Democrat, leads Beatty 56 percent to 19 percent in the poll, which was conducted Monday through Wednesday this week.

Libertarian candidate Robert Underwood garnered 6 percent in the poll and 18 percent said they were undecided.

There was a 4.9 percent margin of error in the poll.

Suffolk: Obama up 19 on McCain in Massachusetts

The latest Suffolk University/7News poll shows Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama leading Republican nominee John McCain by 19 points in Massachusetts.

Fifty-three percent of respondents in the poll said they were supporting Obama while 34 percent said they were backing McCain.

Constitution Party candidate Chuck Baldwin, Libertarian Bob Barr and Green Party candidate Cynthia McKinney each earned 1 percent. Seven percent were undecided.

Suffolk: Question 3 heading toward Election Day showdown

A recent poll shows that voters are evenly divided on Question 3, the ballot measure that would prohibit dog racing in Massachusetts.

The Suffolk University/7News poll, released Thursday night, revealed that 44 percent support the measure while 43 percent oppose it. Thirteen percent of the 400 registered voters polled were undecided.
