Former Sen. Fred Thompson has recorded a robo-call on behalf of Republican U.S. Senate challenger Jeff Beatty.

The 30-second call features Thompson, the Tennessee Republican who ran for president this year, touting Beatty's experience and judgment as the reasons why Massachusetts voters should elect him to replace U.S. Sen. John Kerry this year.

Willington says GOP convention was a success; Palin is ready for media spotlight

Rob Willington, the executive director of the Massachusetts GOP, said Monday that the Republican National Convention successfully launched the next stage of nominee John McCain's campaign and that vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin is ready to face an onslaught of media interviews.

Willington told PolitickerMA.com that the convention was "extremely successful" and that "people got a good look at who John McCain is and who Sarah Palin is."

Beatty gears up for final push

John Kerry, said Thursday that he is looking forward to returning to Massachusetts Friday, where he'll immediately hit the campaign trail.

Beatty told PolitickerMA.com that he has a campaign event scheduled in Springfield Friday afternoon "about an hour" after he returns from Minnesota.

"We'll be out in the RV for 60 days straight," Beatty said.

State Rep. looks forward to speech tonight, says McCain has 'big shoes to fill'

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- State Rep. Robert Hargraves said Thursday that presumptive GOP presidential nominee John McCain will break the mold of the typical acceptance speech Thursday night, highlighting his uniqueness as a candidate.

Hargraves, a delegate from Groton, said he is looking forward to McCain's speech, even though "he's got big shoes to fill after Sarah," referring to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's primetime speech Wednesday night.

Romney wrote speech from beginning to end, RNC had little input

ST. PAUL -- Former Gov. Mitt Romney wrote his primetime speech from beginning to end and the Republican National Committee did not change much in the vetting process, according to Romney's staff.

Eric Fehrnstrom, a spokesman for Romney, told PolitickerMA.com that Romney drafted the entire speech himself. The speech was submitted to the RNC for review, Fehrnstrom said, but they did not make any "substantive changes."

GOP delegation takes afternoon off, gets ready for big night
