A Dream Of Peace (MA Congressmembers Work To Ease Gaza Humanitarian Crisis)

In response to the recent Gaza War, a fundraising page was set up on ActBlue.com in order to contribute to elected officials who have been supportive of the peoples of Israel and Palestine.  The page is called "A Dream of Peace: Justice and Equality for The People of Israel and Palestine", and can be found here.

The mission of the page states "All of the people of the Holy Land need to live in peace and security. We need to support and elect candidates that are willing to stand up for the rights of the citizens of Israel and Palestine. These candidates support measures to stop violence, increase economic and humanitarian aid, actively engage in negotiation, and promote co-existence among these two Peoples.

Nearly entire Mass. congressional delegation votes for auto bailout

Nine of Massachusetts' 10 members of Congress voted for the $14 billion auto industry rescue package Wednesday night, according to the roll call.

Congressman William Delahunt, a Quincy Democrat, did not vote. A spokesman for Delahunt told PolitickerMA.com Wednesday night that Delahunt is currently on a previously scheduled congressional delegation trip to Russia to discuss nuclear nonproliferation, the crisis in Georgia and energy issues. The spokesman declined to comment on whether Delahunt supports the bill.

Several pols to attend Kennedy ceremony Monday

A host of high profile elected officials, including Vice President-elect Joe Biden, is slated to attend Harvard University's convocation ceremony Monday during which it will bestow an honorary degree on U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

Harvard was originally slated to give Kennedy, a Hyannis Port Democrat, an honorary degree during its graduation ceremonies last June but that was delayed when Kennedy suffered a malignant brain tumor. The university decided to hold a ceremony on Monday solely to honor Kennedy.

Kerry and Delahunt bet on victory margins

Buried in this Cape Cod Times political round-up on Monday is an interesting tidbit from U.S. Sen. John Kerry's recent race against Harwich Republican Jeff Beatty.

The Times reports that Kerry bet Congressman Bill Delahunt, a Quincy Democrat, that he would defeat Beatty by a larger margin than the 33.8 percent Delahunt beat Beatty by in 2006 for his congressional seat.

Beatty fires away at Kerry, Kerry camp parries

BROCKTON - Republican U.S. Senate candidate Jeff Beatty fired three salvos at John Kerry Sunday, saying the Massachusetts senator has high disapproval ratings, a poor record on constituent services and is more focused on campaigning on behalf of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama than he is focused on serving Massachusetts citizens.
