New York Post: There was so much to write about this morning! And This Is What We Will Have To Put Up With For The Next Four Years (At Least)

By now, everyone knows about the flubbed Oath of Office. The President initially jumped in and cut off the Chief Justice while the latter was administering the oath, and then the Chief garbled the oath only moments later. This post pretty much captures the clumsy verbal pas de deux. It’s not the world’s biggest deal, the oath was taken, Barack Obama has been President since noon, January 20th and there has been no Constitutional crisis. Just to make sure that things were on the safe side, the Chief came to the White House and administered the oath again.

But of course, this entire episode had to serve as an excuse for various people to lose their ever-loving minds.

More on that cool new "change" website

I think my personal "wow, we really do have a new President!" moment was when I looked at the new whitehouse.gov website for the first time yesterday. Maybe it's because I've had to visit the site so many times over my four years as a blogger; I almost used to cringe pre-emptively, knowing that the moment I looked for a press conference transcript, I'd have to face something stupid Bush or any of his officials said, or see any number of smirk-filled photos of the former President.

So, it's kind of cool to see various bloggers discover parts of the new website that made them realize the new administration cares about healing the country.

America’s First African-American (Acting) President

The Volokh Conspiracy relays the legal analysis of one Professor Ken Katkin, who wonders in print who was president betwen the time President Bush’s term expired at noon on Tuesday, and President Obama took the oath of office late at 12:04. Its a thought experiment more than anything, but its a fun one.

(1) The 20th Amendment provides that “[t]he terms of the President and Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January….”

(2) Art II., Sec. 1 Cl. 8 provides that “[b]efore he enter on the Execution of his Office, [The President] shall take the following oath….”

(3) President Obama did not take the Oath of Office until about 12:03 pm today, after Vice President Biden took it at about 12:01 p.
